Type 56 Assault Rifle is the Chinese variant of the Russian AK-47 and AKM Assault Rifle. It began production in 1956 and still in production for export market. Type 56 has been the service rifle of the PLA until replaced by Type 81, Type 95 and Type 03, Type 56 remains in use with reserve and militia service.
Type 56-2 (or Type 56-II) is the improved variant and copy of the AKM, which introduced in 1980. It comes with a side-folding stock, mainly for export market and very rare in China.
